Mosaics West!  ($124)

Instructor: Halsey Bascom
Create a personalized 12x14” wall-hanging using broken tile and dishes. Design a landscape or invent a design with a western color-palette. Instructor Halsey Bascom will walk you through the steps of making a first-class mosaic, from initial design to final grouting.


Texas Trivets by Halsey  ($124)

Make your own Texas Trivet!
Use special glazes to paint tiles to make your personal Texas statement.
Day one, instructor Halsey Bascom will help you decide on the image and show you how to get different effects by applying the glazes in various ways — brushed, sponged, feathered, rolled. Let your imagination soar with the eagles. Day two, you’ll assemble and grout your finished 9x13” trivet.

Ever wonder how much better your photographs would be if you knew what all those buttons could really do? Find out while improving your knowledge of portrait and landscape photography. A power point presentation, individual instruction, and a supervised outdoor photo shoot with western models will enhance your composition skills and inspire your appreciation for hill country nature.


The Authentic Western Figure in Oils  ($290)
     April 16-18, 2010
     April 16th from 5:30-8:30pm at The Museum of Western Art
     April 17th and 18th 9-4 pm at Schreiner University
Instructor: Brigitte Woosley
Explore the qualities of composition, value and color while learning to paint from an authentic ‘western’ model. Enjoy the challenge and spontaneity of Alla Prima painting. The instructor places emphasis on contrast, rhythm and edges as well as how to incorporate and integrate the figure into the background. You will also study the five steps of successful figure painting, drawing or capturing a likeness, value-creating form, temperature, capturing light and dark, lost and found edges and design.  This course includes a power point demonstration, instructor demonstrations and as much individual instruction as possible. This class is intended for intermediate and advanced students.
