Remuda
The Museum of Western Art is a non-profit organization
which depends heavily on volunteers. The volunteer group
is known as the Remuda.
This group was organized in 1985 with a board of
managers who serve from one to two years. On-going work
includes greeting visitors at the admissions desk,
library work, selling items in the Museum store and
visitor assistance in the art galleries. Volunteers work
4 hour shifts -- 9 to 1 and 1 to 5, Tuesday through
Saturday. Many work only 4 hours per week, while others
work in more than one area. Exceptional work and extra
hours are rewarded in special ways at the annual
Christmas party. The annual fee for joining the museum
is $35, but after completing 100 hours and continuing to
complete your 100 hours each year, this fee is waived.
Whenever possible, volunteers are assigned to their
favorite area. However, a “second choice” is most
helpful to Museum operation and to the new volunteer. It
is possible to change jobs as experience grows and you
want to learn new skills. Come join us.

Colts & Fillies
The newest group to the Museum is the
Colts & Fillies.
It was founded in 2008. The purpose of the group is to
assist the staff and Board of Directors with fundraisers
sponsored by The Museum of Western Art. Various areas in
which they assist include registration, meeting and
greeting, decorating, sales, marketing, sponsoring,
helping with the raffles and auctions, obtaining in-kind
donations and being available to help make sure the
events run smoothly. Events include RoundUp, the golf
tournament, an art sales in the fall, various events
through the Museum's Education Department and other
happenings throughout the year.
Through your commitment to The Museum of Western Art and
membership in this volunteer group called the
Colts & Fillies,
you will experience a new artistic adventure. In return
for your providing creative assistance of fundraising
events and promoting Museum membership, you will enjoy
exclusive events, meet new people, network with friends
and colleagues, and expand your appreciation and
